Jackie Robinson
Lonestar

LONE STAR - Strip sets, staggered, allow easy piecing of this 11-fabric traditional design. You may select fabrics that slowly shift in value from one color to another OR work with only 6 fabrics, radiating outward from the center and reverse repeating on to the star tips.
Jackie begins with 6 simple strip sets that are pressed specific directions, and then subcut at a 45° angle. These units are then assembled into the eight star point sections. This is where the ‘tricks’ for a perfectly flat center begin! Once the star is assembled, the corner squares and side triangles of background are added. These often dreaded Y-seams are amazingly easy, as you’ll soon see.
A simple mitered border will complete the 75” square Lap quilt. Or you may choose to build an outstanding pieced border to allow it to grow to a 108” square King size.
The lesson ends with a demo of successful mitered corners on the binding.
